Build the skill.
Enjoy the challenge.
A game with a purpose: help children understand, remember and confidently recall their times tables up to 12. Practise for yourself, battle a friend, and celebrate progress together.
Let’s playFrom “I have to work it out” to “I know this one”.
TimesBy12 is a multiplication practice game for learners building confidence and fluency with their times tables. It is for anyone learning the tables, finding particular facts difficult, or ready to make their recall more reliable.
The aim is to make familiar facts easier to call on, leaving more attention for division, fractions and the rest of a maths problem. Times tables are one foundation of maths. The game builds that foundation through understanding, practice and checks over time.
Mistakes guide future questions. Checks on different days aim to turn a good answer today into knowledge that lasts.
Avatars, personal bests, power plays, streaks and friendly battles give children several reasons to come back.
Accuracy comes before speed. Practice has no time limit, so children can take time to learn. Optional speed bonuses and the highest mastery rank encourage quick recall when they are ready. A fast guess is not the same as understanding.
Parent rewards are optional. Children can enjoy the learning, XP, streaks and battles without agreeing a money reward.
A practical way to use it
Finish a practice quest. Use hints if you need them.
Try a table you find hard or train your next Challenge targets.
Aim for at least 24 out of 25 without hints to earn a streak day, or choose a friendly battle.
See what you remember. Share a win with your parent and take a break.
WATCH IT. THEN TRY IT.
Your first steps, with a voice to guide you.
Choose a short chapter. Press play for English narration, switch on captions with the player’s caption control, or read the full transcript. You can pause whenever you want to try a step in the game.
Illustrated walkthroughs with a synthetic British female voice. Example screens and scores explain the real game’s rules; watching them does not change your player.
What is TimesBy12 for?
Who it is for, why recall matters, and what makes practice feel like a game.
Read the transcript and follow the steps
1. Build confidence, one fact at a time
Times By Twelve is for children who are learning, rebuilding confidence in, or strengthening their times tables up to twelve. The aim is to help them understand the facts, remember them, and gradually recall them more easily.
2. Understand → remember → recall
Knowing seven times eight without starting from scratch can leave more attention for the rest of a maths problem. Times By Twelve supports that goal with visual hints, feedback, and repeated practice. Times tables are one part of maths, not the whole subject.
3. Your challenge. Your friends. Your progress.
The fun comes from making your own avatar, beating your personal best, choosing a power play, building a daily streak, and facing a friend in a private battle. You can practise calmly first, then compete when you feel ready.
4. An optional encouragement from home
Parents can also choose to join the Parent Challenge. Its optional rewards recognise perfect practice rounds on different days. Money is optional. Practice, streaks, and friend battles still work without a family reward agreement.
YOUR PLAYER. YOUR PERSONALITY.
Start your legend.
- Create your account. Tap Create account. Use your email address (Gmail is fine) and a separate TimesBy12 password of at least 12 characters.
- Make your player. Choose a gaming name, a creature, a colour and some gear. A nickname is perfect. If you already have a player on this phone, use Save my player to keep it with your account.
- Pick up on any phone. Log in with the same email and TimesBy12 password, then choose your saved player. Your account keeps your avatar and learning progress online.
Already have an account? Tap Log in. Create another account only when you want a separate account, rather than to restore an existing player.
A LITTLE EVERY DAY
Train at your own pace.
Practice quest
On the Play screen, tap Practice all tables for 25 mixed questions. Get at least 20 correct to pass. Get all 25 correct without hints for a 100-point bonus. Read the feedback and move to the next question. There is no time limit: an elapsed clock tracks a separate optional speed bonus. Hints help you learn, but using one means the round cannot earn a streak day or the perfect-round bonus.
Table training
Tap Practice one table on the Play screen, then choose a times table. Use the visual hints to see groups and patterns. The 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11 and 12 tables get more attention in mixed practice; 1, 2, 3, 5 and 10 appear much less.
Stuck? Use a hint. It shows how the multiplication works. A hinted round still helps you learn, but does not count towards the Parent Challenge reward.
What would you do with 7 × 8?
This example shows the choices. It doesn’t save scores, XP or streaks.
- Try an answer, or reveal the visual hint.
- Choose a power play if you want to see its points.
- Submit and compare quest points with XP.
How does the game learn what I need?
A wrong answer or a hint tells the game that a fact needs more practice. It gives you a few other questions before bringing it back.
Three correct answers in a row without hints give that exact fact a break of up to 100 answered questions. A scheduled memory check can bring it back sooner. Those checks gradually spread out over 1, 3, 7, 14 and 30 days.
Answers in practice and battles both count. If every fact in a chosen table is resting, training switches to mixed questions. Train my next targets in Challenge can deliberately revisit resting facts to check your next rank.
YOUR POCKET PRACTICE ARENA
Learn offline. Sync when you reconnect.
- Prepare the phone once while online. Open TimesBy12 in the installed app or browser, log in and choose the player. Wait for Offline ready on the Play screen, then open Offline practice.
- Choose your saved player and practise anywhere. Mixed quests, specific tables, visual hints, power plays, 25-question practice quests and Parent Challenge target practice work without internet. Your challenge progress appears on the phone and is confirmed when it syncs. Answers save on this phone before the counter moves. Use Finish later · save quest to take a break.
- Reconnect and open TimesBy12. Android Chrome can also retry in the background when supported. Leave the game open briefly to confirm the saved items waiting to sync count falls to zero. You can also tap Sync now in Offline practice. If your login has expired, log in to the same account online; the queue stays saved.
- Keep the original practice days. Sync sends the answers with their recorded dates. The server checks scores, XP, streaks and parent-mission evidence. Repeated sync attempts do not award duplicate XP.
Offline practice is a separate practice screen. A quest started in the online game stays saved there; start or resume an offline quest in Offline practice. Use the same website address or installed app where you prepared the player. Data saved on one address does not move to another until it has synced.
Battles, new logins, avatar changes and parent actions need internet. Family approvals and reward payments can be recorded after reconnecting. Walkthrough videos are not downloaded for offline viewing. Keep the phone’s browser/app data until pending progress has synced. The first use on a new phone needs internet.

ABC23425 questions. Up to 3 minutes. Higher score wins.- One player creates a battle. Tap Friends battle for up to 10 players or Create classroom battle for up to 35 players, then share the invitation link or the 6-character room code privately. The 35 places can include 33 pupils and two teachers playing together.
- Up to 9 other players join a friends battle, or up to 34 join a classroom battle. Open the link, or tap Join a battle and enter the room code. Each player uses their own player on their own phone or laptop. A saved account is optional for playing, and keeps progress across devices.
- The host starts the match. In friends and classroom battles, the host chooses whether power play is on for everyone (+20 correct, −10 for a miss) or off (+10 correct, no loss for a miss). Hints still score +5 and speed bonuses still apply. The host can change the setting before starting a rematch. When everyone invited has joined, the host starts the battle with 2–10 players in friends mode or 2–35 in classroom mode. Everyone starts with the same set of 25 questions and has up to 3 minutes. Answers move straight on to the next question. A missed fact returns later for that player when an unanswered slot is available, replacing another question. Players can therefore see different questions after mistakes. A miss on question 25 cannot return within that battle, but is remembered for later practice. A live leaderboard shows the scores. When everyone finishes or time runs out, the podium reveals bronze, silver and gold before the final leaderboard. If scores are tied, the quickest player to complete all 25 ranks higher. Exactly equal finish times share a place. Players who do not finish all 25 rank behind a finisher with the same score. The winner celebrates with a trophy. Tap Replay celebration to watch the ceremony again. After everyone finishes, only the host can tap Create a rematch; the other players tap Join rematch on their results. The same room code works again, and the rematch host waits for everyone before starting. The final top ten shows scores; the separate Battle winners board counts each player’s wins across the room and its rematches and records each winner today, with earlier days available too. Find the latest room again under High scores → Open battle winners. A new room starts a new competition. Finish all 25 questions within 120 seconds of the battle starting to earn 25 bonus points, even if some answers are wrong.
Teacher: Class of the Week
On Play, open Teacher: Class of the Week, sign in and select a teacher host player. Create classes such as 8A and 8B. Each gets a reusable six-character class code. Select Start battle and share the class code; pupils choose Join a battle. The teacher watches and is not counted among the 35 players or their scores.
Each completed class round contributes all pupil scores divided by pupil-round participations. A pupil playing twice counts twice, including a zero score. The class leaderboard resets each Monday at midnight in Stockholm; the class’s best single-round average remains its all-time record. Classes with the same school name under the same owner account compete with one another. Add a school and main teacher name when creating each class. The top ten pupils are displayed during and after the battle; other places are not displayed publicly. The teacher starts each new round.
Substitute teachers: the class owner opens Teacher access beneath the class and creates a private teacher code. Copy the teacher instructions and share them privately. A substitute signs in with their own TimesBy12 account, opens Substitute / shared teacher access and enters both the pupil class code and the private teacher code. They can then start battles for the existing class; its name, main teacher and records stay the same. Pupils receive only the pupil code. The private teacher code is shown once. Replacing it revokes existing substitute access while keeping pupil codes and scores.
Accuracy earns the main points. Quick, correct answers without hints can earn extra points and XP. You can still play one against one. In an ordinary friends or classroom battle the host occupies one place. In Teacher: Class of the Week the teacher watches separately, leaving all 35 player places available. Friends must join before the host starts; an unused room invitation expires after 2 hours.
CHOOSE YOUR STAKES
Points, power plays & XP.
| Your choice | Correct | Wrong |
|---|---|---|
| Safe answer | +10 | 0 |
| Power play | +20 | −10 |
| With a visual hint | +5 | 0 |
Starting at 0 XP, that is 100 / 250 towards the next level. Ten safe correct answers score 100 quest points. Ten correct power plays score 200 quest points. Both earn the same 100 XP in practice. Battles can add speed-bonus XP.
Your quest score never drops below zero. A hint turns off the power-play option for that question.
Battle speed bonus
Correct answers without hints get extra points and XP: +5 within 3 seconds, +3 within 5 seconds, or +1 within 8 seconds. After 8 seconds, a correct answer still earns its base 10 XP. The time includes typing and submitting. Practice has a separate whole-round speed bonus, described below.
Your XP level
Every correct answer earns 10 XP, including a correct answer with a hint. Quick unaided battle answers earn extra XP. Each 250 XP takes you up a level. High scores shows your personal bests; My progress shows your learning.
XP levels and Parent Challenge ranks measure different things.
KEEP THE FIRE ALIVE
24 out of 25. No hints.
Finish a 25-question practice quest with at least 24 correct and no hints to secure your daily streak. That is 96%, meeting the 95% target.
That is 92%, so it passes the quest but does not earn a streak day. Start another quest to try again.
One mistake is allowed, provided you finish the round without using hints.
Get every answer right without hints for a streak day and a 100-point quest score bonus.
- A hint helps you learn and earns XP for correct answers, but that round cannot earn the streak or perfect bonus.
- Finish one qualifying practice quest; answers from separate quests do not combine. Battles do not earn a daily streak day.
- You can take a break and use Resume to continue your saved quest.
- Qualify on consecutive days to grow your streak. A missed day resets the daily streak; your XP, progress and earned ranks stay saved.
A day runs midnight to midnight in Stockholm time. Completing more quests on the same day still counts as one streak day. The Parent Challenge is separate: complete 25 out of 25 without hints on five different days in the same week.
THE PARENT CHALLENGE
Perfect practice. Weekly rewards.
This week’s mission: 5 different days.
Complete a 25 / 25 practice round without hints on at least five different days during the same Monday–Sunday week. The days do not need to be consecutive. More perfect rounds on any of those days count towards the total.
5 perfect rounds
20kr / weekRequires perfect rounds on at least five different days.
10 perfect rounds
30kr / weekRequires perfect rounds on at least five different days.
15 perfect rounds
40kr / weekRequires perfect rounds on at least five different days.
20 perfect rounds
50kr / weekRequires perfect rounds on at least five different days.
50 kr is the weekly maximum. Rewards need a parent’s agreement and an approved family connection. Your parent pays separately; the app records it once. Record it after the last round you want to include, or wait until the week ends and use the previous-week option.
An example reward week
Five perfect rounds spread over five days earn 20 kr. Five more perfect rounds in the same week raise the total to 30 kr. A 24 / 25 unaided round may continue the daily streak, but does not count as a perfect round for this reward.
Open Challenge → My challenge to see your next goal. Mastery ranks recognise remembered skills separately from money. Tap Train my next targets to work on facts needed for your next rank; those target quests are not 25-question reward rounds.
What do “reliable” and “mastered” mean?
Reliable: answer a fact correctly without hints on at least 2 different days. Repeating it lots of times on one day is not enough.
Mastered: answer it correctly without hints on at least 3 days spanning 7 days or more, show both orders where they differ, and answer within 5 seconds on at least 2 days. The time includes typing and submitting.
For Challenge, 7 × 8 and 8 × 7 share one fact family. That makes 78 families across tables 1–12. A mistake or hint restarts the current evidence for that family, so the game knows to help you practise it again. A rank you have already earned stays yours. XP and battle points cannot buy ranks.
FOR PARENTS
Set up the family challenge.
- Use your own parent account. In the game, open Challenge → Parent corner. Enter your TimesBy12 password and choose Create my family challenge.
- Share the private family code. Each child logs into their own account, chooses their player and enters the code under Challenge → My challenge → Join your family challenge. Then they tap Ask to join.
- Approve their gaming names. Back in Parent corner, refresh the challenge, enter your parent password and approve each child’s request.
- Review the week together. Check their five perfect days, total perfect rounds, reliable facts and mastered facts. Give the agreed reward separately, then choose Mark this week as paid to keep a record. One payment can be recorded per child, per week; you can wait until the week ends and record the previous week.
The family code is different from a battle room code. Keep the parent account separate from the children’s accounts. Parent actions require your password.
GOOD TO KNOW
A few quick answers.
I forgot my password. What do I do?
Tap Log in → Forgot password and enter the email used for your existing account. Check your inbox and spam folder, open the reset email and choose a new TimesBy12 password. The link lasts 15 minutes and works once. You do not need the old recovery key. Log in again afterwards; your avatar and progress stay saved.
Can I use the Android app and the website?
Yes. Log in with the same account. The installed Android app and tablequest.studiofotos.se use the same saved accounts and progress. A different browser or website address may ask you to log in again.
Android APK 1.0.2 can keep using its existing game address. This guide and the game’s website updates do not need a new APK. Offline practice saves answers on the phone and syncs later. Battles and account actions need internet; prepare the player online once before going offline.
Android installation guideWhere do I change my avatar or switch player?
Tap your avatar or Player menu, then Customise my avatar. You can also choose another saved player in that menu. Check the gaming name before starting a quest so the answers count for the right player.
What if I close the game halfway through?
Submitted answers are saved. When you return, use Resume if a quest is waiting. Choosing Leave quest ends it for your player. Answer at least 10 practice questions in one quest that day to count a practice day, even if you have not finished all 25 questions; a battle’s 3-minute clock keeps running even if you leave the screen.
